It was like a dream

Except, even in my crazy dreams, the colors are never this vivid.

Once again, I spent the month on the move! I've been keeping rather busy - going to events, applying for an awesome job, selling chocolate (eating chocolate), time on the east coast, and continuing to explore Seattle.

You'll be seeing several posts in the coming days since each adventure deserves its own special place.

Today's post - FLOWERS!

Please forgive me, but here comes the old cliché, a picture is worth a thousand words, but for this picture, I have no words.

Breathtaking, isn't it?

I lied - I have a few words... (really, when do I not?)

I lucked out the other day - I happened to have a day off, and what do you know - it was sunny too (a very rare combination for me here in Seattle). So, I decided to hop in the car and drive an hour north for the highly recommended (thanks Sarah!) Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

The festival takes place across several farms, and sprawled for miles during the entire month of April. I didn't know what to expect (having never been to a tulip festival before), but I was hoping I'd be able to walk from field to field. Alas, my bike would have been far more effective since there was quite the distance between each participating farm. Since I didn't have my bike, I had to drive from location to location. Luckily, I was able to circle each field on foot, taking time to admire, photograph and simply be with the flowers.
I'll admit, the fields were my favorite part of the festival. It was like walking through a dream - Cascade mountains in the background, perfect blue sky (puffy white clouds), and the vibrant colors of the tulips absolutely took my breath away.

The festival is a combination of fields and gardens. Although the fields were my favorite (there was something so magical about flowers as far as the eye could see and the gorgeous mountains in the distance),  I would be remiss not to discuss the beautiful gardens. I'll admit, I know absolutely nothing about floral arranging or garden design, but I know I loved what I saw in this garden! The color pairings were beautiful and the texture and shape combinations absolutely blew my mind.

I don't know much about tulips, so I was glad to find that I could learn a little bit since the garden that I visited had labeled the different types of tulips. However, I (still) don't know much about tulips (one day in a garden just doesn't cut it).

Since the tulip festival was such a peaceful and visually stimulating day, I think that I'll let this video (that I was secretly hoping would actually happen) and the photographs speak for themselves (with some short notes of course).

HAHA... sensual touch. But I also love that orange/blush pink color!
They smelled wonderful
Oh hey - Seattle tulips!

I'd like to note: the pictures you see on this blog were all taken with my iPhone and are unedited (can you believe that? the colors needed absolutely no enhancement), but I also brought my Nikon DSLR camera with me to take more official photographs which will be slowly rolling out on my photography website. I'll let you know when they do!

Cheers my dear readers. Keep a sharp eye - I'll be posting again soon!
